Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following console accessory maker Genki's presentation of a purported Nintendo Switch 2 3D-printed model at CES 2025, Nintendo has issued a statement. The company clarified to CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper that the images and videos circulating are not official. They explicitly denied providing Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.
Genki's CES 2025 presentation generated significant buzz, with claims of possessing a functional Switch 2 unit and revealing a release date. The American hardware brand, known for its range of gaming accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), even features a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 accessories page on its website, complete with a detailed animated mockup.
Nintendo, however, maintains radio silence on concrete Switch 2 details, only promising an official announcement soon. The sole confirmed feature is backward compatibility with existing Switch games. This recent controversy may accelerate Nintendo's plans for an official unveiling.
