Netflix has thrillingly announced a major collaboration with the creators of the critically acclaimed video game, Sifu, to bring its intense storyline to life on the big screen. Initially revealed in 2022, the film adaptation was in the hands of Story Kitchen and Sloclap, the game's developer. However, as per recent reports from Deadline, the project has seen a substantial expansion in its production team.

The streaming giant has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, celebrated for his contributions to the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, to craft the screenplay. Although Derek Kolstad, who was initially involved in adapting Sifu's narrative, might still have a role, his current involvement remains uncertain.

The project's allure grows with the addition of Chad Stahelski, renowned director of the John Wick series, and his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, who will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is simultaneously engaged in another high-profile video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima, adding to his impressive portfolio.

Since its release in 2022, Sifu has captivated audiences worldwide, achieving over one million sales within the first three weeks. The game centers around a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance following their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that resurrects them after each death—but at the cost of aging them several years—the protagonist navigates a perilous path filled with danger and intrigue.
