If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly anticipating news about a potential Part 3, you might want to brace yourself. Series creator Neil Druckmann has recently poured cold water on any hopes for a third installment in the beloved video game series. In an extensive interview with Variety primarily focused on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series, Druckmann addressed the topic of *The Last of Us Part 3* directly, and his response was not what fans were hoping for.
"I was waiting for this question," Druckmann said with a sigh. "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it."
This statement has left fans questioning whether to take Druckmann's words at face value. Currently, Naughty Dog is fully engaged with their new project, *Intergalactic*, which was unveiled at The Game Awards last December. Given the absence of a release window for *Intergalactic*, it's clear that the studio's focus is elsewhere, making the development of *The Last of Us Part 3* highly unlikely in the near future. Druckmann might be playing his cards close to the chest, or perhaps he's genuinely finished with the series. Only time will tell.
For those still hungry for more *The Last of Us* content, the television adaptation offers a glimmer of hope. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about the number of seasons needed to fully adapt the story of Part 2, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons might be the ideal number to wrap up the narrative.
