Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection launches on September 30 — at least, that's what appeared on the Xbox App over the weekend.
Currently, the Xbox app's storefront may display a placeholder date of December 31, 2025 (as it did when I checked this morning). However, for a brief period yesterday, players saw conflicting dates: either September 29 or September 30, varying by region.
As noted by Reddit users, confirmation will likely come during the upcoming Evo weekend—fighting gaming's premier annual event—scheduled for August 1 in Las Vegas. The earlier release date might have gone live prematurely before reverting to the placeholder.
Last month unveiled details about Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Key features include online multiplayer support with rollback netcode across all arcade and console titles, plus confirmation of additional unrevealed content.
The collection also chronicles Mortal Kombat's legacy through exclusive developer interviews and archival materials.
"Digital Eclipse's interactive documentary format showcases Mortal Kombat's cultural impact," an official statement explains. "Its revolutionary use of digitized fighters captivated players, sparked controversy, and established a 30-year franchise. Featuring exclusive insights from creators Ed Boon, John Tobias, John Vogel, and Dan Forden—supplemented by rare concept art, vintage ads, and behind-the-scenes footage."
