Microsoft Is Developing Gears of War Collection Without Multiplayer

Renowned Windows Central editor Jez Corden has confirmed reports that Microsoft is developing a Gears of War collection. Initial rumors suggested the collection would omit multiplayer; Corden confirms this, stating competitive online play won't be included. However, cooperative gameplay and the main story campaigns will remain.

The official announcement for this Gears of War Collection may arrive as early as the upcoming June Xbox Showcase, according to industry sources. While the specific games included remain unconfirmed, speculation points towards the first three entries in the series.

Development on Gears of War: E-Day, the next main installment, continues using Unreal Engine 5 for PC and Xbox Series X/S. Recent leaks hint at a possible late 2024 release, but Corden believes a 2026 release is more likely.
