Metro 15th Anniversary Updates
Metro 2033 Redux Is Free Until April 16
Announced through Metro’s official Twitter (X) account on April 14, this offer is a fantastic opportunity for newcomers to dive into the world where the Metro saga began. 4A Games, the developers behind the franchise, are keen on sharing the origins of their beloved series with as many players as possible.
In addition to this giveaway, 4A Games shared more about the year-long celebration of Metro's 15th anniversary in a blog post on their official website on March 16. The post promised a series of events, special deals, and celebratory content across Metro's social media channels, expressing gratitude to the fans for their continued support.
Founded in Kyiv, Ukraine, and later expanding to Malta, 4A Games draws inspiration from Dmitry Glukhovsky's science fiction novels, starting with Metro 2033. Despite the challenging circumstances in Ukraine, the studio remains committed to their craft, tackling themes related to the ongoing conflict in their work.
In their recent update, 4A Games acknowledged the difficulties they face, stating, "These circumstances are incredibly challenging, the situation remains dangerous and not within our control, but we are currently as safe as possible, and we want to manage your expectations around the reveal of the next Metro title, it will be ready when it is ready, and we can’t wait for you to see it."
The Next Metro
Alongside the anniversary celebrations, 4A Games is hard at work on two major projects: the next installment in the Metro series and a brand new intellectual property (IP). While details about the new IP remain under wraps, the developers have shared insights into how the ongoing conflict in Ukraine has influenced the narrative direction of the next Metro game.
In a poignant statement, the team explained, "As we said in our last studio update, in 2022 a full-scale russian invasion changed how we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew from that lived experience to create an even darker story, those themes already present in Metro becoming ever-more apparent and important."
Despite the adversity, 4A Games remains dedicated to delivering a powerful and relevant chapter in the Metro series, promising fans a game that reflects the harsh realities faced by their team and resonates with the series' core themes.
