Insomniac Games Remains Silent on Marvel's Wolverine Release Date
Insomniac Games recently shared its future plans, but remained tight-lipped about the highly anticipated Marvel's Wolverine. While the studio acknowledged its ambitious roadmap and new projects, Co-Head Chad Dezern emphasized a focus on existing titles and declined to offer any concrete information regarding Wolverine's release, specifically avoiding confirmation or denial of a 2025 launch. "We have pent-up excitement, but we've got to hold onto it," Dezern stated in an interview with Variety.
Wolverine's Development and Shared Universe
Initially unveiled during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase with a cinematic trailer, Marvel's Wolverine is confirmed for PlayStation 5. Further fueling fan speculation, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed in a 2023 interview with Kinda Funny that Wolverine exists within the same universe as Spider-Man ("they’re all in 1048"). While a crossover was anticipated, the only confirmed link so far is a Wolverine-themed suit in Spider-Man 2. A ransomware attack in December 2023 briefly exposed some Wolverine development assets to the public.
Insomniac's Current Projects and Spider-Man 2 PC Release
Insomniac confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will launch on PC on January 30, 2025, as announced at New York Comic-Con 2025. The studio clarified that no further DLC is planned for the game, although the PC version will include all post-release updates for PS5, such as new suits and New Game+. Both Standard and Digital Deluxe editions will be available, with the latter offering exclusive suits. Currently, Marvel's Wolverine remains Insomniac's only publicly confirmed project in development.
