Marvel Rivals has made a significant change to their latest update on player rank resets following widespread fan feedback. Dive into the details of the upcoming changes and developments in the game.
Marvel Rivals Backtracks On Their Player Rank Reset
Dev Talk 11 Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments
In response to fan outcry, Marvel Rivals has reversed its previous decision on player rank resets. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account announced a new update on its seasonal rank adjustments, retracting the plans outlined in Dev Talk 10.
The initial announcement in Dev Talk 10, which proposed a rank reset every 45 days or half-season, dropping players down four divisions, was met with significant backlash. Players argued that such a system would be demotivating, particularly for those striving to advance through the ranks.
With the release of Dev Talk 11, Marvel Rivals confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will now retain their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset will still occur, with players dropping down six divisions.
Human Torch, The Thing, And Other Updates Still On The Way
Despite the reversal on mid-season rank resets, other exciting updates are still on track. The introduction of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, remains scheduled, expanding the roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has committed to adding two new playable characters each season, with each season spanning three months.
Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above will remain unchanged, with those achieving this rank post-update receiving a free Invisible Woman costume. Players ranked Grandmaster and above will continue to receive Crests of Honor. At the end of the season, new rewards will be available for those reaching Gold rank, including another free costume and Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above.
While balance adjustments are expected following the mid-season update, specific details have yet to be disclosed.
Marvel Rivals Community Support
The swift response from Marvel Rivals to the community's feedback highlights their commitment to player satisfaction. Just hours after the initial announcement in Dev Talk 10, the team released Dev Talk 11 to address the concerns.
Marvel Rivals emphasized their dedication to the community, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
The upcoming Marvel Rivals mid-season update is set for February 21, 2025. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest news by visiting our Marvel Rivals page.
