Marvel Rivals Players Propose Enhancements to Proficiency Rewards System

Summary

  • Fans criticize Marvel Rivals for difficulty in obtaining nameplates without spending money.
  • A Reddit user proposed converting Lore Banners into nameplate rewards to address the issue.
  • Players argue that Proficiency rewards should include nameplates to showcase skill and mastery.

Marvel Rivals has been under scrutiny from its fanbase for the way it handles rewards, particularly the challenge of obtaining nameplates without spending real money. Launched in December 2024, the game introduced its Season 0 cycle with a limited array of rewards and skins. The recently released Season 1 update, however, expanded the battle pass to include ten character skins and a variety of customization options such as nameplates, sprays, and emotes. Despite these additions, players have expressed dissatisfaction with the system for acquiring nameplates.

Reddit user DaPurpleDerpleOf sparked a conversation on the Marvel Rivals fan hub, pointing out the disparity between the appeal of Lore Banners and the grind required to unlock nameplates through the battle pass. Some nameplates are exclusively available for purchase with real money, which many players are reluctant to do. DaPurpleDerpleOf suggested a simple solution: convert Lore Banners into nameplate rewards, thereby making them more accessible and appealing to players.

In addition to the battle pass, Marvel Rivals features a Proficiency Points system. Players earn these points by engaging with the game's characters, dealing damage, and defeating enemies. While the Proficiency system offers various rewards, fans argue that nameplates should be included as they would serve as a tangible display of a player's skill and mastery. "Proficiency rewards are super lacking. I hope they add more tiers and rewards down the line," one player remarked, with another echoing the sentiment, calling the inclusion of nameplates a "no-brainer." The addition of nameplates to the Proficiency rewards would not only enhance the system but also provide players with a satisfying way to showcase their progress and expertise.

Marvel Rivals recently launched its Season 1 update, introducing significant changes to the game's roster, including the addition of Sue Storm and Mister Fantastic from The Fantastic Four. These characters have brought fresh dynamics to the game, accompanied by new maps and modes. The remaining members of The Fantastic Four are scheduled to join later, with Season 1 set to continue until mid-April.
