Marvel Rivals Dev Commits to Bi-Monthly Hero Releases

By GabrielMay 10,2025

NetEase Games has exciting news for Marvel Rivals players: a new hero will be introduced every month and a half as part of the game's ongoing seasons. This announcement comes directly from the studio's creative director, Guangyun Chen, who shared the team's ambitious post-launch strategy in an interview with Metro. Chen emphasized the commitment to delivering a new playable character every half-season, which translates to a fresh hero every six weeks.

"Every season, we'll be rolling out fresh seasonal stories, new maps, and new heroes. We'll actually be breaking down each season into two halves," Chen explained. "The length of one season is three months. And for each half of the season, we will introduce a new hero. We just eventually want to continue to enhance the experience, and, you know, keep everyone excited in our community."

This ambitious schedule raises anticipation among fans, leaving them eager to discover who will be the next addition to the roster as each season concludes. Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls set a strong precedent by introducing Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second half, scheduled to launch in a few weeks. These iconic characters from the Marvel universe have already made a significant impact, but maintaining this momentum will be a challenge for NetEase.

The game launched with an impressive lineup of heroes, including Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm. However, the potential for expansion is vast, with characters like Blade rumored to appear in Season 2. Fans are also hopeful for the inclusion of Daredevil, Deadpool, and other X-Men members. While the exact future of the Marvel Rivals roster remains uncertain, the game's early success suggests that NetEase is poised to keep the excitement alive.

Marvel Rivals Season 1 also brought a series of balance changes and gameplay tweaks, with more updates promised for the future. For the latest on this hero shooter, you can explore how some players are using the Invisible Woman to combat an alleged bot problem, delve into the Hero Hot List, and learn why some players are using mods despite the risk of bans.
