Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle
- $499.99 at Best Buy
By choosing the Switch 2 bundle that includes Super Mario Kart World, you'll save $30 compared to buying the console and game separately. Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99
The standalone price of Mario Kart World is set at $79.99, which is $10 higher than the standard price for AAA titles on PlayStation and Xbox this generation. While the increase in game prices between console generations can be a bit of a downer, it's a reflection of the rising costs of game development. Hopefully, this higher price tag means Mario Kart World offers an experience that's worth every penny.
What Is Mario Kart World?
Mario Kart World is poised to be the most ambitious Mario Kart game to date, offering an open-world environment reminiscent of the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from the end of one race to the start of another, creating a continuous racing experience.
The game's dynamic tracks are influenced by weather and time of day, which can impact visibility and traction. One of the coolest features is the ability to drive off the designated track and explore "virtually everywhere," as Nintendo puts it. Each race will feature 24 drivers, the highest number in the series' history.
A new mode called Knockout Tour lets you race across the open world, navigating through checkpoints. If you're not up to the required placement at a checkpoint, you're out of the race. For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode allows you to explore the world at your own pace, team up with friends, and even take scenic photos.
More details about Mario Kart World will be revealed during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview for a deeper look at what's in store.
