"Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Starter Kit Preorders Restocked on Amazon"

By EricMay 17,2025

One of the most thrilling trading card crossovers in recent years is on the horizon. The much-anticipated Magic: The Gathering: Final Fantasy set is set to launch on June 13, 2025. As excitement builds, the only product still widely available from major retailers is the Starter Kit, which is now back in stock and available for preorder at Amazon for just $19.87. UK fans can secure theirs for £15.99. With other sets sold out and some individual cards already fetching over $500, securing your preorder is crucial before they disappear quicker than a Chocobo in the wild.

2 Release Date: June 13, 2025. Pay nothing until dispatch. $19.87 at Amazon

The buzz surrounding this set has been growing since its initial announcement, and a new trailer has only heightened the anticipation. Prices for individual cards on the secondary market are already soaring, with the borderless version of Cloud, Midgar Mercenary, priced at $147.23, and the Surge Foil version commanding an impressive $599, making it the priciest card in the entire Final Fantasy set.

If you've already secured your preorder or are hunting for rare singles, keep an eye on standout cards such as the beautifully designed borderless Kefka, Court Mage, showcased in the new MTG teaser trailer at PAX East and illustrated by the renowned Final Fantasy artist, Yoshitaka Amano.

TCG Player is an excellent resource for acquiring a wide range of single cards to enhance your deck, eliminating the need to rely on luck with booster pack pulls. It's also a valuable tool for determining the value of your cards post-release. If you manage to pull any Surge Foil cards from your booster packs, you might find yourself sitting on a significant asset. However, keep in mind that card prices fluctuate, so values may change as the release date approaches.

Other notable cards to watch for in booster packs or to consider purchasing individually include the Cloud, Ex-Soldier Commander card, currently priced at $45.99. Its utility in equipping other creatures on the field explains its high demand. Additionally, the full-art Yuffie Kisaragi - Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow card, which also serves as a Commander and is priced just under $100, is highly sought after due to its rarity and classic Final Fantasy VII art style.

The prices for some special cards can be particularly steep. The borderless Traveling Chocobo card, for instance, is available for $169.98, while its standard version is slightly less expensive at $114.97. A teaser trailer even highlighted a limited edition Gold Chocobo version of this card.

While the cost of rare cards can be high, TCG Player also offers a range of more affordable singles. Examples include Sazh's Chocobo for $1.96, Tonberry for $2.49, the versatile Summon: Shiva for $1.56, and Gladiolus Amicitia for just 33 cents.

TCG Player is also taking preorders for select Final Fantasy booster sets, though these are priced above MSRP. The nine-booster Final Fantasy bundle (which includes bonus cards) and the 30-pack Play Booster Display box are available for $87.99 and $164.99 plus shipping, respectively, which is about $20-$30 above the suggested retail price. Single sealed boosters are also on offer for $7.99 each plus shipping.

For those preordering the Starter Kit, note that each deck is preconstructed and does not include boosters to open, meaning no surprise $600 cards. Instead, the kit offers one traditional foil legendary creature, five brand-new non-foil cards exclusive to Magic, and 54 cards from the main set. Additionally, it includes four non-foil double-sided tokens, two MTG Arena code cards (one per deck), and two deck boxes, providing excellent value at a $20 price point.

For new players, the MTG Arena code cards are particularly beneficial, allowing you to redeem both decks for online play. This feature lets you learn the game at your own pace through AI matches or engage in competitive play.
