The Parabolic Microphone is optional equipment; it's not initially available. To acquire it, you must reach specific player levels and purchase it from the in-game shop. The microphone has three tiers, each offering improved performance and reliability.

  • Tier 1: Unlocked at Level 7.
  • Tier 2: Unlocked at Level 31; upgrade cost: $3,000.
  • Tier 3: Unlocked at Level 72; upgrade cost: $5,000.

You can equip up to two Parabolic Microphones, regardless of team size. Prestiging resets your level, requiring you to unlock each tier again.

Using the Parabolic Microphone

Equip the Parabolic Microphone from your in-game truck before each investigation. In Challenge Mode, it might not be included in the pre-set loadout. Use the appropriate button to activate and deactivate it. Tier 3 includes a directional radar.

The Parabolic Microphone is invaluable for locating ghosts on larger maps, supplementing temperature and EMF readings. It detects various ghost sounds – object throwing, door movements, and vocalizations. It can also be crucial for completing optional objectives involving recording ghost audio. Some ghosts, like the Deogen or Banshee, produce unique sounds only detectable with this microphone, aiding identification.
