KartRider: Drift Goes Offline Globally

Nexon has announced the global shutdown of KartRider: Drift, the mobile, console, and PC racing game launched in January 2023. This closure affects all global platforms.

Asian Servers Remain Operational

The good news is that the Asian versions (Taiwan and South Korea) will continue operating. Nexon plans to revamp the Asian servers, although specifics regarding these changes haven't been revealed. There's also no word on a potential global relaunch.

Shutdown Timing Uncertain

Nexon hasn't provided a precise date for the global shutdown. The game is currently still available on the Google Play Store, allowing players to enjoy it before its closure later this year.

Reasons Behind the Shutdown

Despite efforts to provide a seamless global experience, KartRider: Drift faced challenges. Player feedback highlighted frustration with the game's automated elements, leading to repetitive gameplay. Technical issues, including optimization problems on certain Android devices and numerous bugs, further hampered the game's success. These factors prompted Nexon to reassess its strategy, resulting in the global shutdown and a renewed focus on the PC versions in Korea and Taiwan.
