The announcement of Neil Druckmann's latest game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has stirred a whirlwind of emotions among fans, and we've only now begun to uncover the first details about its setting. Druckmann unveiled these insights during his appearance on the Creator to Creator show.
The game is set in an alternate future, branching off from our reality in the late ‘80s. The narrative introduces a new, dominant religion within the Intergalactic universe, meticulously crafted by Naughty Dog over several years. This religion's lore spans from its inception with its first prophet to its eventual evolution and distortions.
Originating and spreading on a single, isolated planet, this religion shapes the world where the protagonist crash-lands. Stranded in a desolate environment, the protagonist finds herself utterly alone. This solitude is a core theme of the game, challenging players to navigate survival without the guidance of a companion—a departure from Naughty Dog's previous titles where interactions with companions were pivotal.
Despite being in development for four years, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has yet to reveal a potential release date. As eager fans await more information, we can only look forward to future updates from Naughty Dog.
