Infinity Nikki and its highly anticipated multiplayer-focused 1.5 update have finally landed on Steam, but the launch has been overshadowed by a series of controversies and technical difficulties. Infold Games’ fashionable dress-up adventure, which had been exclusive to the Epic Game Store for months, arrived on Valve’s digital platform to much fanfare, but the excitement quickly turned to frustration due to a range of issues.
Upon release, players encountered numerous technical problems, including crashes and general instability that prevented them from even launching the game. However, the issues didn't stop at performance; the community was taken aback by unexpected design changes and the introduction of demanding new outfit requirements. Infold has since issued an apology and promised compensation to affected players, but the situation remains tense.

The new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, consist of 11 pieces each, requiring players to perform up to 220 pulls to complete a set. This is a significant increase from the usual outfit size and was introduced without prior notice, leading to concerns that future outfits might demand even more effort and resources.
In addition, Infold extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event from two to three weeks, causing further confusion among players. Amid these technical issues and perceived aggressive monetization tactics, the Chinese player base rallied on the social media platform RedNote, sparking a global movement. Players worldwide are now boycotting Infinity Nikki on Steam, leaving negative reviews, and uninstalling the game across all platforms.
Reddit user kiaxxl called for action, suggesting that withholding pulls for a few days could signal to Infold the community's desire for a game that remains enjoyable and fair. "What I am reminding people of is a decent amount of Chinese IN stylists pledging to not spend/pull on the banners to send a message to the digital income trackers for the game," they explained. "For gacha games, tracking how successful a new batch of content is usually measured on the first few days. Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players."
The backlash has been effective, with Infinity Nikki currently holding a "Mixed" rating on Steam due to negative reviews warning potential players to steer clear until their concerns are addressed.
In response to the uproar, Infold issued an apology letter across its official channels, acknowledging the technical issues and promising improved communication about future changes. "Thank you again for your support," the message read. "We know we still have shortcomings, but it’s because of your companionship that Nikki can keep pushing the boundaries of imagination. Please give us another chance to let Nikki’s starlight continue shining for all of us, ensuring our sincerity never fades."
Apology Letter Regarding Version 1.5 Gaming Experience
Dear Stylists,
Hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry that we were unable to provide you with a stable experience upon the release of the new… pic.twitter.com/YEjpGQpKho

The apology included plans to revert the Mira Crown event to end on May 16 and start the next season on the same day, along with compensation of 10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds. While these steps are seen as progress, many players feel that a more comprehensive overhaul is necessary.
Despite the concessions, some players remain wary, particularly about the decision to maintain the 11-piece requirement for new outfits. Concerns about future updates potentially increasing these demands continue to circulate. "I wish you would finally chance the drop rate.. it cant be that i need 200 pulls to get a 5star and then you drop like 5 banners within weeks?! Make the rate lower or give us more diamonds to be able to get crystals.. this is not fun!" tweeted Denise92 (@nikkie92denise).
While the community celebrates the quick response to their feedback, boycotters urge continued pressure. "Think about it: CN players are pointing out that if we accept the 11-piece outfits and pity as it is, most new 5 stars will **be** 11 pieces," Reddit user EdensAsmr said. "Imagine if every new major update has two 11-piece 5-star banners? That means you have to save even more to be able to handle it, and 70-80 pulls per patch will **not** cut it."
