Iconic Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in games like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and many more, recently shared a heartfelt message on his recovery journey. Johnson was discovered "barely alive" in his hotel room last week, and a video he uploaded to a GoFundMe page, which has raised $174,653 for his medical expenses and bills, revealed he was in a coma.

"I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there and I'm grateful to each and every one of you," Johnson expressed in his video message. The voice actor and Washington Capitals announcer was in Atlanta to host a benefit event for the National Alzheimer’s Foundation. After checking into his hotel and missing the event, his wife Kim Johnson contacted the hotel. Security and emergency medical technicians eventually found him, struggling to detect a pulse.

"Rumors of my demise, well they weren't exaggerated. It was very close, very close. But I'm still here," Johnson stated. He credited his survival to his wife's timely call to the hotel and his son's prompt action to involve security. Johnson was subsequently hospitalized and placed in a coma for five days. It was during this time that he learned about the GoFundMe campaign launched by his friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker, along with his wife Kim.

Johnson expressed gratitude to the National Alzheimer's Association for their support in flying his family down to see him and arranging accommodations. He also thanked Ted Leonsis, chairman of the Washington Capitals parent company, for a generous donation of $25,000, as well as Glasser and Elliker for their efforts.

Bethesda also showed their support on social media following the news of his illness. "You say that I'm your friend. I am," Johnson said to them. "Always will be. Love you guys." He extended his thanks to his fans, both those who donated and those who showed support in other ways. "I love you all. I'm not going anywhere," he affirmed.

Looking forward, Johnson mentioned, "It's going to be a while as I work my way back but I'm coming back. I look forward to seeing and having you all hear me then. Cheers."

In addition to his extensive work with Bethesda, where he most recently voiced Ron Hope in Starfield, Johnson has portrayed iconic characters such as Prince of Madness Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, three Daedric Princes (Boethiah, Malacath, and Molag Bal) in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, and Moe Cronin in Fallout 4. His talents have also extended to numerous film and television roles.
