Genshin Impact's highly anticipated 5.5 update introduces two exciting new characters: the 5-star Electro Catalyst user, Varesa, and the 4-star Electro Polearm wielder, Iansan (previously an NPC).

Varesa, described as carefree and adventurous, transforms into a formidable combatant when facing formidable foes. Her personality is highlighted in this developer quote:
"Varesa, my most peculiar student… No one matches her easygoing, carefree nature. No matter where she travels, she’s like a child on an adventure—always searching for delicious treats or a cozy spot to rest... But beware! If you ever fight Abyss monsters with her, the moment she gets into the zone, she turns into an unstoppable force!"
Iansan, Natlan's top trainer, is now a playable character. Varesa speaks highly of her mentor:
"Iansan is Natlan’s top trainer and the person I admire the most! People say I’m talented, but without her training, that talent would have gone to waste. Don’t worry if you’re not used to working out—Coach Iansan knows how to train anyone! Oh, by the way, wanna check out this flyer? She’s recruiting new students!"
