Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlockable Breakers and Playstyles
Hyper Light Breaker offers diverse gameplay through its selection of characters, known as Breakers. This guide details how to unlock new Breakers and provides an overview of their unique playstyles. Note that this guide reflects the early access version; more characters may be added later.
How to Unlock New Characters
To unlock new Breakers, you'll need Abyss Stones, obtained by defeating Crowns (bosses). First, locate Prisms (represented by golden diamond icons on the map) to access boss arenas. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock using your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method; the process for future characters may differ.
All Breakers and Their SyComs
Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and core abilities, significantly influencing their playstyle.
Vermillion:
- Default SyCom: Gunslinger: Focuses on ranged combat, with critical hits granting a subsequent guaranteed critical hit.
- Unlockable SyCom: Tank: Emphasizes melee combat and defense, rewarding perfect parries with increased armor. Offers superior defensive and melee stats.
Lapis:
- Default SyCom: Lightweaver: Enhances ranged combat, increasing Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery.
- Unlockable SyCom: Warrior: Boosts core stats with each upgrade, making her incredibly powerful late-game.
Goro:
- Default SyCom: Astrologer: Accelerates Blade skill charge while firing.
- Unlockable SyCom: Sniper: Significantly increases critical hit rate, enhancing his high-damage, high-risk playstyle. A glass cannon.
