God of War Ragnarok's Rating on Steam are 'Mixed' as Sony Faces PSN Requirement Backlash Again

The passionate community of God of War fans has unleashed their fury, review-bombing God of War Ragnarok on Steam due to Sony's contentious PlayStation Network (PSN) account requirement for the PC version of the game.

In the wake of God of War Ragnarok's PC debut on Steam, the game has been met with a 'mixed' user score, largely influenced by a wave of negative reviews. The backlash stems from Sony's insistence on a PSN account linkage to play this single-player action-adventure title on PC. Launched last week amid significant controversy, the game currently holds a 6/10 rating on the platform.

Sony's decision to mandate a PSN account for playing God of War Ragnarok on PC has left many fans frustrated and has seemingly fueled the surge of negative reviews on Steam.

While the majority of reviews are critical, some players have shared positive experiences, noting that they were able to enjoy the game without linking a PSN account. One such player stated, "I understand the frustration over the PSN requirement. It's annoying when single-player games demand online features. But surprisingly, I played without any issues, even without logging in. It's a shame because these reviews might deter people from experiencing an amazing game."

Another user expressed technical difficulties, saying, "The PSN account requirement dampens the excitement. I launched the game and logged in, but it gets stuck on a black screen. It shows I've played for 1 hour and 40 minutes without even playing. How absurd is that?"

Despite the widespread criticism, there are players who have praised the game itself, emphasizing that their enjoyment was overshadowed by the PSN controversy. A positive review noted, "The story is as compelling as expected. Most negative reviews are centered around the PSN requirement. Sony needs to reconsider this policy. Otherwise, the game delivers a top-notch experience on PC."

Sony encountered a similar situation earlier with Helldivers 2, where a PSN account was initially required to play the game developed by Arrowhead Game Studios. Following intense backlash, Sony reversed its decision and removed the PSN account linking requirement for Helldivers 2.
