People Can Fly, the renowned developer behind Bulletstorm and a co-developer of the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, has recently entered into an exciting new partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment. This collaboration is set to bring forth a new game, currently codenamed Project Delta. As per the agreement detailed in a report from People Can Fly, Project Delta will be developed as a work-for-hire game, though specifics about the project remain under wraps.
This new deal adds to People Can Fly's already bustling portfolio. The studio is simultaneously juggling multiple projects with intriguing codenames. Among these is Project Gemini, developed in partnership with Square Enix, which unfortunately saw 30 developers laid off last year. Another project, Project Echo, is being crafted with Krafton, and Project Red, which also appears to be linked with Sony. Additionally, People Can Fly recently announced that Project Bison, their venture into VR, would be their last in that space.
The studio has faced some setbacks recently. Just last December, People Can Fly announced the suspension of Project Victoria and a scaling down of Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, they made the tough decision to cancel Project Dagger, an action-adventure game that was being developed in partnership with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these challenges, People Can Fly remains highly active with a total of eight known projects currently in development. This includes the eagerly awaited Gears of War: E-Day, in collaboration with The Coalition, though a release date has yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Project Gemini, their joint effort with Square Enix, is slated for release in 2026.
With such a diverse and ambitious lineup of projects, People Can Fly continues to be a significant player in the gaming industry, pushing boundaries and exploring new creative avenues.
