Games Workshop Boosts Staff with $27M Amid Success

By HenryMay 26,2025

The boom time continues at Warhammer 40,000 maker Games Workshop, which has announced it's handing out £20 million (approximately $27 million) to its staff as a bonus. This generous gesture comes on the heels of another successful fiscal year for the Nottingham, UK-based company behind the iconic Warhammer tabletop games and their expansive settings.

For the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, Games Workshop reported a core revenue of £560 million, a significant increase from the £494.7 million in the previous period. Licensing revenue also saw a notable rise, reaching £50 million from £31 million. The company's core profit climbed to £210 million, up from £174.8 million, while licensing profit soared to £45 million from £27 million. These figures culminate in a profit before tax of £255 million, up from £203 million.

In recognition of their staff's contribution to these impressive results, Games Workshop is distributing £20 million among its employees, an increase from the £18 million bonus handed out the previous year. With an estimated staff of around 1,500, each employee is set to receive a substantial bonus of approximately £13,333 (around $18,000).

Games Workshop's primary business remains the sale of miniatures that fans assemble and paint for use in tabletop wargames, such as Warhammer 40,000. However, the company is increasingly establishing itself as a powerhouse in the IP sector. This is evidenced by significant revenue from blockbuster video games like last year's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and animations, such as Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. Additionally, Games Workshop and Amazon have finalized a deal for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, which will see the creation of films and television series. The anticipation continues to build with Space Marine 3 currently in development.

Looking ahead, Games Workshop acknowledges that the record-breaking licensing revenue from this period is unlikely to be repeated in 2025/26, though licensing remains a core focus. With Warhammer 40,000 and the broader Warhammer universe experiencing unprecedented popularity, the company shows no signs of slowing down.

Games Workshop recently held its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, and fans can catch all the exciting announcements and trailers. Highlights include the Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and the introduction of Siege mode for Space Marine 2.
