MercurySteam, the Spanish studio behind acclaimed titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has revealed its next ambitious project: Blades of Fire, an action-RPG developed in partnership with 505 Games. Prepare to be immersed in a dark fantasy world teeming with enigmatic races and terrifying creatures.
The debut trailer showcases exhilarating hack-and-slash combat, a distinctive visual style, and a darkly atmospheric setting. Gameplay and artistic design draw clear inspiration from Lords of Shadow, while environmental details and enemy designs echo the aesthetic of Darksiders. Intriguingly, the trailer features a mechanical bird, hinting at a significant traversal mechanic for the protagonist.
Developed using MercurySteam's proprietary Mercury Engine, Blades of Fire aims to sidestep the optimization challenges that frequently plague games built with Unreal Engine 5.
