FromSoftware has completed a new round of server maintenance for Elden Ring Nightreign aimed at optimizing online matchmaking functionality.
Improving the Multiplayer Experience
Following reported matchmaking difficulties during launch weekend, the developer advised players experiencing connection issues to restart matchmaking sessions and verify NAT types on PlayStation consoles. The June 6 server maintenance specifically targeted expedition matchmaking with active Remembrances.
With online services now restored, the development team expressed gratitude to players: "Thank you for your patience, Nightfarers. Limveld awaits."
Commercial Success and Player Reception
Despite initial technical challenges, Nightreign achieved impressive sales of 3.5 million copies within its first five days. While this falls short of the original Elden Ring's record-breaking 30 million sales since 2022, it notably surpasses the recent Shadow of the Erdtree expansion's three-day sales of 5 million.
The game's Steam rating has improved from "Mixed" to "Mostly Positive" following recent updates addressing player concerns about:
- Brutal solo difficulty
- Missing duo co-op functionality
- Lack of built-in voice chat
- Outdated gameplay systems
A recent patch has significantly improved solo play accessibility, with FromSoftware confirming plans to introduce Duos mode in future updates.

Future Content Roadmap
FromSoftware has outlined ongoing support for Nightreign, including:
- DLC releasing later this year
- Enhanced Nightlord boss fights beginning this month
- Gradual implementation of additional features
The game's director recently demonstrated the viability of completing all content without using Relics, emphasizing the game's balanced challenge.
