Xbox's popular racing game, Forza Horizon 5, is making its way to PlayStation consoles!
In a surprising announcement from Playground Games, the acclaimed racing title is set to arrive on PS5 this spring. This marks another significant Xbox exclusive making the jump to PlayStation, following successful cross-platform releases like Sea of Thieves and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Developed by Panic Button in collaboration with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games, the PS5 version will offer the complete Forza Horizon 5 experience, mirroring the content available on Xbox and PC. This includes all car packs and expansions, such as the thrilling Hot Wheels and challenging Rally Adventure DLC.
This move reflects Xbox's expanding strategy of bringing its games to a wider audience on various platforms, including PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Xbox head Phil Spencer has publicly confirmed the company's commitment to supporting the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.Recent financial reports from Microsoft shed light on this decision. While Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny reached an impressive 4 million players, and PC Game Pass saw a 30% growth, boosting services revenue by 2%, overall gaming revenue declined due to a near 30% drop in console sales. This shift might encourage Xbox to prioritize Game Pass and broaden its reach by releasing more titles on different hardware platforms.
Forza Horizon 5 continues the legacy of the acclaimed open-world racing series. Offering a more arcade-style experience compared to its simulation-focused counterpart, Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon 5 invites players to race and explore the stunning landscapes of Mexico. Read our full review here.
