Formovie Episode One Hardware Review: Projection Heaven?

At Droid Gamers, we receive a variety of gadgets, but a projector is a fresh addition to our lineup. The Formovie Episode One, which allows you to stream mobile games onto a larger screen, caught our attention as a promising piece of technology to explore.

Designed for those on a budget, the Episode One delivers on its promise of affordability while still offering solid performance. Despite some minor drawbacks, it presents a compelling option for those looking to dip their toes into the world of projectors.

Unboxing the Episode One, you'll find the projector, a remote (batteries not included), a power cable, and a manual. While it may not have the substantial feel of pricier models, its lightweight nature at just three pounds makes it highly portable and easy to carry around.

The projector comes equipped with a single USB-A port, one HDMI port, and an audio jack. Although this may be limiting for some, it's quite sufficient for the majority of users, especially considering the cost.

In terms of performance, the Episode One holds its own with 150 ISO lumens. While it may not be the brightest or most powerful laser-based projector on the market, it performs admirably in darker environments, as expected. However, it struggled a bit in bright sunlight during our tests.

Movies, TV shows, and streamed games all displayed clearly on the Episode One. For optimal image quality, we found it best to position the projector at least 10 feet away from the screen. The built-in speaker, while functional, produces a tinny sound, so pairing it with an external speaker would enhance the audio experience significantly.

The user interface of the Episode One is straightforward and user-friendly, making setup and navigation a breeze. Its budget-friendly design actually simplifies the process compared to some of the more expensive projectors we've encountered.

Overall, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. While it may not excel in any one area, it's a reliable all-rounder that will meet the needs of most casual users effectively.
