The Season of the Maelstrom introduces Witchcraft Powers in Diablo 4, akin to magic found in series like Harry Potter. Gaining these potent abilities requires favor with The Coven, earned by completing missions and collecting Restless Rot. This unlocks Altar upgrades, but a more elusive reward awaits: Lost Powers from Forgotten Altars.
Unlike standard Altars, Forgotten Altars randomly appear within Sanctuary's dungeons. This necessitates exploration, but the powerful Lost Powers make the effort worthwhile. These abilities significantly enhance your character's capabilities.

Unlocking Diablo 4's Lost Powers
Discovering all Forgotten Altars unlocks a range of potent Lost Powers:
| Power Name | Effect |
|---|---|
| Breath of the Coven | Applying a Witchcraft effect (Eldritch, Psyche, or Growth & Decay) boosts Attack Speed for 10 seconds, stacking per unique effect. Rank 8 provides a 40% Lucky Hit chance when all three effects are active. |
| Hex Specialization | Increases Hex effect potency. Rank 10 adds a 10% Critical Strike Chance against Hexed foes. |
| Aura Specialization | Expands Aura effect size. Rank 10 grants a 50% Critical Strike Damage bonus to enemies within the Aura. |
| Piranhado | When an enemy is affected by both a Hex and an Aura, a Piranhado is summoned, dealing Physical damage over 12 seconds. Rank 5 allows the Piranhado to actively seek nearby enemies. |
Remember that Witchcraft Powers can be upgraded using Restless Rot from your inventory. Complete as many quests as possible to acquire sufficient Rot for upgrades.
