The decision, announced in an official statement, cites the game's unfinished state as the reason for cancellation. All pre-orders will receive full refunds.

The cancellation follows two previous delays. The developers had ambitious plans for a significant technological leap in the game, but ultimately fell short of their goals. This transparent approach is a welcome change compared to some less forthcoming sports game developers.

This news is still a letdown for fans. Further, the developers confirmed that Football Manager 24 will not receive a 2025 season update.
