Fantastic Four Trailer Shows The Thing, Silver Surfer

By ChloeAug 09,2026

Marvel Studios has unveiled a fresh trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, delivering plenty of never-before-seen footage.

In the preview, The Thing is seen sporting a rocky beard while being carried through the skies by the Human Torch. Viewers also get a better look at Mister Fantastic’s elastic abilities, the Invisible Woman wielding her powers more extensively, and another brief shot of Galactus—though his full reveal still awaits.

We also see the Silver Surfer more clearly than in past clips, complete with a metallic voice announcing Galactus’ arrival. The trailer also includes a recurring gag where The Thing refuses to utter his iconic catchphrase, “It’s clobberin’ time!”

The sudden appearance of The Thing’s beard in The Fantastic Four has raised eyebrows—until now, the hero has been clean-shaven, suggesting the facial hair doesn’t emerge until the third act. But why wouldn’t Ben Grimm shave? Over what span of time does the film take place? Does the story include a major time jump? And can The Thing even shave—if so, how? Fans are left with a rocky mystery on their hands.

Observers have already speculated that The Fantastic Four unfolds over several months, especially given the visible changes in Sue Storm before and after she gives birth to Franklin Richards.

Even with so much new material, Marvel is clearly holding back key details. Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards—mustache and all—stretches his limbs to leap onto a platform and appears to plant something in Galactus’ leg, yet the full range of his powers remains hidden.

Likewise, Galactus’ face is still under wraps in live-action form, though fans have caught glimpses through other visuals. The trailer does feature a look at his chest as he seems to awaken, alongside shots of him stomping through an alternate-history version of New York City.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to launch Phase Six of the MCU, paving the way for Marvel’s first family to cross paths with Captain America, Thor, and the X-Men in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday. Earlier this month, director Matt Shakman addressed speculation about Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom appearing in the upcoming film, strongly hinting the character won’t be part of the story—though his awkward phrasing left fans unconvinced. What’s clear is that the events of The Fantastic Four: First Steps will lead directly into Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release in December 2026.
