Nintendo enthusiasts on the West Coast have reason to celebrate as the gaming giant opens its second official U.S. store in San Francisco today, May 15. Located at 331 Powell Street in Union Square, the Nintendo San Francisco store follows in the footsteps of the renowned Nintendo NY, previously known as the Nintendo World Store, which underwent a transformation and reopened in 2016 after renovations and rebranding.
IGN was on the scene to explore what Nintendo has in store and also had the opportunity to sit down with Nintendo of America's president, Doug Bowser. The discussion delved into the reasons behind choosing this moment to establish Nintendo's first West Coast retail presence.
During the interview, the conversation inevitably turned to the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on June 5. IGN pressed Bowser for details on the Switch 2's availability in the U.S. at launch and beyond, as well as insights into the controversial Game-Key Cards and other topics of interest to fans.
