During Prime Day, Amazon promotes the acclaimed Sony WH-1000XM5 noise-canceling wireless headphones for $298. However, eBay outshines with a stellar deal, offering them for just $238.40 with the 20% off code "JULYFINDS." This is a brand-new product from Buydig, an authorized Sony reseller, ensuring a full manufacturer's warranty. The Sony WH-1000XM5 ranks among the top noise-canceling headphones under $400, consistently excelling in our buying guide. While the new XM6 model launched in 2025 costs $200 more, the price difference may not justify the upgrade.

"The Sony WH-1000XM5 delivers the major upgrade we anticipated from Sony’s flagship wireless headphones. Its sleek design and advanced AI enhance noise cancellation, while the ambient listening mode feels remarkably natural. The audio quality is exceptional, handling everything from delicate classical music to high-energy action movie soundtracks with ease."
The previous Sony WH-1000XM4 was already impressive, but the XM5 introduces significant enhancements in noise cancellation and comfort. Equipped with a second processor and twice as many microphones, it excels at filtering ambient noise. The redesigned earcups fit more snugly, improving passive noise isolation for superior performance compared to the XM4 and most competitors in its price range.
The Sony WH-1000XM5 boasts a refined, sleeker design with a wider headband for better weight distribution and earcup padding crafted from premium synthetic leather for enhanced comfort. These headphones are ideal for extended wear. However, unlike the XM4, the XM5 only swivels and doesn’t fold inward, making it slightly less compact.
The Sony WH-1000XM5 maintains the XM4’s impressive battery life, offering over 30 hours on a single charge with active noise cancellation enabled. It also supports fast charging via USB Type-C.

Even years after its debut, the XM4 delivers excellent sound quality, effective noise cancellation, and superior comfort, arguably surpassing the XM5 in ergonomics. It supports USB Type-C charging with up to 30 hours of battery life, Bluetooth Multipoint for pairing with two devices, and a compact, foldable design.
