The Nintendo Switch 2 currently features only two major exclusive titles: Mario Kart World Tour and Donkey Kong Bananza. While both deliver exceptional gameplay, Donkey Kong Bananza has cemented its position as 2025's standout title - an essential purchase for every Switch 2 owner.
Donkey Kong Bananza Stands Alone as 2025's Only 10/10 Masterpiece
Donkey Kong Bananza Review by Logan Plant
"The king of the jungle makes his triumphant return in Donkey Kong Bananza, a masterful follow-up to Super Mario Odyssey that revitalizes this classic Nintendo franchise. Nintendo took a daring approach by featuring Donkey Kong rather than Mario as the Switch 2's inaugural 3D platformer protagonist - a choice that's paid off spectacularly. DK's fluid, expressive movement and devastating physical abilities create a revolutionary gameplay experience. The game's remarkably destructible subterranean world brims with rewarding collectibles, overflowing personality, and ingenious challenges that continually surprise players well beyond the main story's conclusion. Over its 20-hour campaign, Bananza maintains relentless momentum as DK and Pauline venture toward the Planet Core, with platforming mechanics that grow increasingly sophisticated. Every component blends seamlessly to create Nintendo's first true next-generation masterpiece."
Our perfect 10/10 rating makes Donkey Kong Bananza the year's only "Masterpiece" designation. While 2025's Switch 2 exclusives remain limited, the console gaming landscape has delivered several outstanding titles including Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Death Stranding 2, and Doom: The Dark Ages - all approaching but not quite reaching masterpiece status. This isn't to suggest Donkey Kong Bananza objectively surpasses other major releases (especially considering different reviewers assessed each title), but rather to highlight its extraordinary individual achievement in securing our highest possible score.
