Absolutely — the Street Fighter movie trailer debut at The Game Awards 2025 was nothing short of a cinematic and nostalgic fireworks display. The moment the iconic Street Fighter theme hit, followed by a sleek, high-octane montage of beloved fighters in full combat glory, sent waves of excitement through the audience and fans worldwide.

Seeing Cody Rhodes step into the role of Guile was a standout — not just for his real-life wrestling pedigree, but for how perfectly he embodies the stoic, determined Air Force pilot. His flash kick landed with the same dramatic flair fans have seen in games for decades, but now in hyper-realistic, movie-grade action.

Then there was Olivier Richters as Zangief, delivering a bone-crushing bear hug and spinning his foe across the screen with terrifying force — a perfect homage to the character’s brutal yet legendary grappling style. And let’s not forget Ryu (played by a yet-undisclosed star), whose calm intensity and devastating back throw set the tone for the film’s core theme: honor in battle.

The full cast’s surprise appearance on stage was a dream-come-true moment for fans. From Chun-Li (M. J. Rodriguez) to Ken Masters (Scott Eastwood), Ryu, Dhalsim, Sagat, and even a sly cameo from M. Bison, the energy was electric. The playful jab at Mortal Kombat — a cheeky line about "no fatalities, just fights!" — had the crowd roaring, firmly rooting for Street Fighter as the more refined (and less gruesome) sibling in the fighting game world.

With a release date set for October 16, 2026, and a cast blending martial arts authenticity with Hollywood star power, this movie is shaping up to be more than just a video game adaptation — it’s a cultural event. Fans have spent years waiting for a Street Fighter film that truly captures the soul of the franchise, and this trailer suggests they might finally have it.

Stay tuned for more updates — including confirmed casting details, director Justin K. Thompson’s vision, and a behind-the-scenes look at how the film’s iconic moves were adapted for the big screen.
