Expanding with Multiple Cities

Project Orion, the codename for Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel, will broaden the game’s universe by introducing a second city alongside Night City. At Digital Dragons 2025 on May 20, R. Talsorian Games founder and designer Mike Pondsmith shared insights into the sequel’s progress.
Although less involved than in the original game, Pondsmith remains engaged with the project. He remarked, “I review the scripts. Just last week, I was discussing with various teams, checking out their work, like, ‘Here’s the new cyberware—what’s your take?’”
He also revealed the addition of a new city, noting, “I looked at it and thought, ‘This captures the vibe you’re aiming for—it’s not Blade Runner, it’s more like a Chicago twisted by chaos.’ I could see it working.”

Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has opened new job postings for Cyberpunk 2. One key role, Lead Encounter Designer, focuses on crafting “memorable gameplay moments that captivate and thrill players.”
The position hints at groundbreaking innovation, with responsibilities including collaboration with the systems design team to develop “the most lifelike and dynamic crowd system in gaming history.”
While details on Project Orion remain scarce, Pondsmith’s comments and CDPR’s recruitment efforts suggest Cyberpunk 2 will elevate its predecessor’s immersive world and intricate narratives.
Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Port: New Footage Revealed

CDPR recently showcased new footage of Cyberpunk 2077’s Switch 2 port, highlighting efforts to optimize the game for Nintendo’s next handheld console. The studio released 37 minutes of B-roll videos on their website, demonstrating the game’s performance on the new platform.
Reports from Nintendo Switch 2 showcase events in New York and Paris earlier this year noted performance challenges, particularly with frame drops. Business Insider commented, “Playing such a demanding game on Switch 2 is a novel experience, but it’s not the ideal way to enjoy Cyberpunk, with noticeable frame rate issues.”

However, CDPR Engineer Tim Green shared optimism in an April 25 Game File interview, stating, “We’ve avoided memory constraints, and faster data storage has resolved early streaming issues. This lets us focus on refining other aspects, and we’re thrilled with the progress.”
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, launching on Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, will include the full base game, all updates, and the acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion. For the latest updates on the game, explore our detailed article below!
