Essence Stones are a new addition to Fields of Mistria, introduced in the March 2025 update. These stones are crucial for several new features, making them essential for daily tasks. This guide explains how to find and craft Essence Stones of various sizes, and how to use them.
Where to Find Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

Since the March 2025 update, Essence Stones can be found within chests located throughout the mines in Fields of Mistria. They've been discovered on various levels, even while searching for offering items (like those needed for the Fire Seal on Floor 60). However, be cautious of mimic enemies disguised as chests—interaction with them will result in damage.
Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. Smaller stones are more common, but larger ones can be found with diligent searching. If you're having trouble locating them, you can craft them at the Stone Refinery after completing the necessary construction quest.
How to Craft Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

The Stone Refinery in Fields of Mistria allows for the crafting of Essence Stones. This structure is introduced through a new story quest in the March 2025 update, requiring its construction within the mines. After completing prerequisite quests, Adeline will enlist your help alongside Olric and Errol.
To build the Stone Refinery, you'll need:
- 200 Wood
- 400 Stone
- 5,000 Tesserae
Once built, you can craft Essence Stones of varying sizes. Each requires Stone and Essence, but the quantities differ based on size:
**Tiny Essence Stone** | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
**Small Essence Stone** | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
**Medium Essence Stone** | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
**Large Essence Stone** | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
Besides Essence Stones, the Stone Refinery produces various common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, making it a valuable crafting hub for numerous projects.
How to Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
The March 2025 update introduced the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics. Both utilize Essence Stones, with larger stones providing longer durations. Large Essence Stones offer the longest charge.

The auto-petter, linked to the Animal Sprite Statue, automatically pets animals in Large Barns and Coops when an Essence Stone is inserted. This statue is found in a hidden cave near Errol's house (requires Dragon's Breath). Additional statues can be crafted once unlocked.
The sprinkler mechanic, unlocked with the Water Sprite Statue, automatically waters crops within a 2-tile radius when powered by an Essence Stone. This statue, along with its crafting scroll, is located on a small island east of the beach, beyond the Lighthouse (requires Dragon's Breath to access). Multiple statues can be crafted.
Expect further uses for Essence Stones in future Fields of Mistria updates from NPC Studio.
