After just a year on the market, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is being discontinued. Activision has officially announced that the mobile version of this popular battle royale game will no longer receive seasonal updates or new content. As of May 18th, the game has been removed from both the App Store and Google Play Store. Real-money transactions have been disabled, and anyone who hasn't downloaded the app by the deadline will lose access permanently.
This sudden closure marks the end of a highly anticipated mobile adaptation that sought to bring the complete Warzone experience to mobile gamers. Although Activision expressed pride in how closely the game mirrored the original Warzone on handheld devices, it seems that the game did not resonate with mobile players in the same way it did with PC and console audiences.
For those who have already installed the game, online access will continue after May 19th. You can still engage in matchmaking and online play, but social features will be turned off. There's no definitive date yet for when the servers will shut down completely. The in-game store will remain open, but only for spending existing COD Points; no new purchases can be made.
As a gesture of goodwill, players with remaining COD Points can transfer them to Call of Duty: Mobile. Until August 15th, if you log into Call of Duty: Mobile using the same Activision account, you'll receive double the value of your unused Warzone Mobile COD Points, along with some extra rewards.
If you haven't installed or reinstalled the game by May 19th, this is your final chance. After this date, no refunds will be available, and the game will become inaccessible. This development is a disappointing conclusion to what was promoted as a significant extension of the Warzone universe, serving as a stark reminder that even the most renowned franchises may struggle to achieve sustained success on mobile platforms.
