Broken Sword Reforges Classic Adventure

Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged has finally arrived. Whether you know the original 1996 release or the Director’s Cut from 2009, you likely already understand the premise of the game. Read on to discover what's changed in this newest edition.

Broken Sword has been Reforged

Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged removes the extra chapters introduced in the Director’s Cut. That means the additional Nico chapters, which were designed to give her more presence, are no longer included. She returns to a supporting role, appearing now and then to provide useful items.

This new version concentrates on presenting a high-definition remaster of the original narrative, with upgraded visuals in full HD and 4K, plus improved audio. It has been optimized for Chromebooks with mouse and keyboard compatibility, and also works with external controllers.

Broken Sword: Reforged supports complete offline play and includes Google Play Cloud Save. There are no advertisements or in-app purchases—just a single one-time payment. During the launch period, it’s available at a 30% discount: $6.99 instead of the standard $9.99.

Played the Original?

If you haven’t, here’s the rundown. The story begins in Paris, where George Stobbart, an American tourist, sees a café bombed by a clown carrying a briefcase. This explosion kicks off a sequence of events.

These events take George—and eventually French journalist Nico Collard—on a journey across Europe. They uncover a complex web of conspiracies tied to the Knights Templar.

At its heart, the game retains the classic point-and-click gameplay. You’ll investigate locations, interact with quirky characters, gather miscellaneous items, and apply them in sometimes unexpected ways to overcome puzzles.

A few puzzles are smart and rewarding; others may prove slightly more challenging. Certain areas won’t become solvable until you’ve first explored another region of the map.

You can find Broken Sword: Reforged on the Google Play Store. In the meantime, take a look at our next news piece on Goobie Garden from the creators of Athenian Rhapsody.
