Following significant fan backlash, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has canceled its day-one DLC. Read the publisher's official statement and learn what led to this decisive change.
Shadows & Silk DLC Canceled for Bloodlines 2
DLC-Exclusive Clans Now Part of the Base Game

Paradox, the publisher of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, has scrapped its planned day-one paid DLC. Instead, the exclusive vampire clans featured in that content will now be included in the main game. This decision comes after the company faced widespread criticism for initially locking two of the game's six playable clans behind a separate purchase available at launch.
The $22 Shadows & Silk DLC was originally set to include the Toreador and Lasombra clans, along with eight cosmetic outfits. However, its announcement was met with immediate and overwhelmingly negative feedback. Players argued that these playable clans are essential to the core experience and should not require an extra payment nearly half the cost of the base game.

As the criticism persisted, the developers acknowledged they were taking feedback into account and planning changes. A tweet from the game's official account stated, "We are listening to you about the Lasombra and Toreador clan access, and we’re making adjustments to reflect this."
Weeks later, they announced refunds for PlayStation Store pre-orders and delayed revealing their planned adjustments until September 17. While some fans hoped Paradox would remove the Shadows & Silk DLC entirely, others worried the company might simply add more content to the DLC to justify its price.
Fortunately, the publisher has opted to remove the controversial DLC and integrate the previously paywalled clans into the main game. Executive producer Marco Behrmann stated in a Steam Community announcement, "Thanks to our community for the frank feedback on Bloodlines 2 and the Premium Edition. That feedback made it clear: Lasombra and Toreador belong in the base game, so that is what we are doing."
New Story Expansions Announced

Alongside canceling Shadows & Silk, Paradox has confirmed that multiple story expansions are in development. These will be available to players who purchase the expansion pass included in the game's Premium Edition. Furthermore, buyers of the Deluxe and Premium Editions will also receive the Santa Monica Memories cosmetic pack.
The first expansion, Loose Cannon, will follow the story of Brujah Sheriff Benny, while the second, The Flower & The Flame, will explore the narrative of Toreador Primogen Ysabella. Both DLCs will include a new cosmetic outfit for the protagonist, Phyre. They are scheduled for release in Q2 and Q3 of 2026, respectively.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is scheduled to launch on October 21, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. For all the latest updates on Bloodlines 2, check out our article below.
