Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile Game

Bandai Namco has announced the shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, which marks a poignant moment as the legendary icon celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. Launched over a decade ago, this version of the game is coming to an end, adding a bittersweet note to the celebrations.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued as of April 1st, 2025. If you're among the dedicated players still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final day on May 30th.

The decision to shut down the game entirely, rather than converting it to an offline version, has sparked disappointment among many fans. An offline version would have been a welcomed alternative, allowing players to continue enjoying the game while still generating revenue for Bandai Namco.

PAC-MAN Mobile, previously known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. In addition to the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it featured a Story Mode with a plethora of original mazes to navigate. The game also included an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events, enabling players to earn exclusive skins. Furthermore, the Tournament Mode provided weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels. The game boasted a wide array of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more, enhancing the visual appeal and customization options for players.

The Reason

Over the past few years, PAC-MAN Mobile has struggled with persistent bugs and issues, which likely contributed to the decision to shut it down. The game's early days on Android were filled with excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, creating a vibrant community of enthusiasts.

If you're keen to experience PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
