Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator's Global Server Closure Announced

Another mobile game is ending its run. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have announced the end of service (EOS) for the global version of their RPG, Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator.

This closure affects only the global version, which launched in January 2024. The game's relatively short lifespan suggests performance issues. A detailed analysis of contributing factors follows.

The Japanese version, launched in September 2023, remains operational and is preparing for its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025—a stark contrast to the global version's fate.

Atelier Resleriana Global Server Shutdown Date

Ironically, the global server's shutdown coincides with the Japanese server's 1.5th anniversary celebration: March 28th, 2025. Global players will conclude their experience at Chapter 21 (Part 1), while Japanese players progress through Chapter 22 (Part 2).

In-game purchases are disabled, but remaining Lodestar Gems can be used until the shutdown. Koei Tecmo promises continued content and events leading up to the closure. The global version's first anniversary on January 25th is now bittersweet.

Reasons for Global Server Closure

Developers cited an inability to maintain satisfactory player standards as the reason for the closure. The game failed to gain significant traction.

Complaints about the gacha system surfaced shortly after launch. Despite strong main characters, gameplay and monetization issues, coupled with excessive power creep, contributed to the game's decline and the subsequent EOS announcement.

Players wishing to bid farewell can find the game on the Google Play Store. For those seeking a new mobile gaming experience, consider the current Sky: Children of the Light Lunar New Year 2025 event.
