Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a wealth of new features and enhancements to keep the game fresh and engaging. This comprehensive plan includes the addition of new game+ mode, expanded difficulty settings, additional story content, and much more, ensuring players have plenty to look forward to in 2025.
In a concise yet informative four-and-a-half-minute video, Ubisoft detailed its schedule for May and June, outlining a series of free updates designed to keep fans engaged throughout the year. The roadmap, which was shared today, offers a clear vision of the ongoing support and development for the latest entry in the stealth-action series.
The first wave of content arrives in early May with "The Works of Luis Frois," the initial free story add-on. This update will be accompanied by a Codex update and several quality-of-life improvements. Players can also expect substantial enhancements to parkour and a photo mode update in the following month. These updates are part of Ubisoft's commitment to actively listening to its community and incorporating their feedback into future developments for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Community developer Daniel St. Germain emphasized the importance of player feedback in the video, stating, “Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released. Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms.”
June will bring another free story drop, along with more challenging difficulty settings, enhanced gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear during cutscenes. These updates are highly anticipated by the player base, but Ubisoft has even more in store for the rest of the year, including new game+ support, additional story drops, special collaborations, and other exciting features.
The highlight of the post-launch roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, "Claws of Awaji," set to release later in the year. This expansion will introduce new content, including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore, offering a 10-hour journey. While pricing details remain undisclosed, the expansion will be free for players who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, marking the franchise's much-anticipated foray into Feudal Japan. The game has already made waves, securing a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and becoming the best-selling game of last month.
