Assassin's Creed Shadows' "Claws of Awaji" DLC Leaks on Steam

A Steam leak has reportedly revealed details about the first DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion promises a significant amount of new content for players.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in 16th-century feudal Japan, marks a significant departure for the franchise, featuring dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative reactions to character reveals and multiple delays. The latest delay pushed the release date to March 20, 2025.

The leaked information, sourced from a now-deleted Steam update, details "Claws of Awaji" as including: a new region to explore, a new weapon type, additional skills, new gear, and enhanced abilities. The DLC is expected to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the "Claws of Awaji" DLC and a bonus mission.

The Leak and Recent Delay

The leak surfaced on Steam following Ubisoft's announcement of yet another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the game was first delayed to February 14, 2025, then further postponed to its current March 20, 2025 release date. Ubisoft cited the need for additional polishing and refinement.

Ubisoft's Uncertain Future

As Ubisoft Quebec prepares for the launch of Assassin's Creed Shadows, Ubisoft's parent company faces uncertainty amidst rumors of a potential Tencent buyout. This speculation follows a period of mixed success for Ubisoft, with several high-profile titles failing to meet expectations.
