AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, building on the success of the RX 9070 XT released in March. Although details are sparse, this new mid-range graphics card promises to be an exciting addition to the market.
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT is equipped with 32 Compute Units and a robust 16GB of GDDR6 memory, ideal for gamers targeting 1080p performance. Given its compact design, it's no surprise that it consumes significantly less power than the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging from 150-182W. With half the Compute Units and approximately half the power consumption of the RX 9070 XT, the RX 9060 XT is expected to be less powerful but should come with a more budget-friendly price tag. Unfortunately, AMD has kept pricing and release date details under wraps.
The Budget Battles Have Begun
While AMD's silence on the Radeon RX 9060 XT's pricing is frustrating, it's likely to be competitively priced around the Intel Arc B580 and the recently launched RTX 5060, which retail between $250-$300. These competing cards have power budgets of 145W and 190W, respectively. AMD seems poised to target the same market segment.
Upon its release, gamers looking for a graphics card in the $300 range will have three options from different manufacturers. If the RX 9060 XT maintains this price point, it will stand out with its 16GB of VRAM, surpassing the 8GB offered by Nvidia and the 12GB from Intel.
While I'll need to test it in the lab to gauge its performance, the larger frame buffer could give the RX 9060 XT a longer lifespan as games become more demanding on video memory. The final price remains a mystery, but the Radeon RX 9060 XT is certainly a budget GPU to keep an eye on.
