The smaller size means a 16-inch display and a standard laptop keyboard without a numpad, and no ethernet port. Yet, it supports the same high-end internals like the Intel Core Ultra 9 HX processor and up to an Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU, thanks to its robust cooling system.

This Memorial Day, four models are available at reduced prices. The $2,850 model comes with RTX 5070 Ti mobile graphics, while the $2,999.99 and $3,150 models are equipped with RTX 5080. The top-tier $3,650 model boasts an RTX 5090.

The Area-51 laptop is powered by the formidable Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, which boasts a max turbo frequency of 5.4GHz, 24 cores, and a 40MB L2 cache. This processor is among the fastest mobile CPUs available, rivaling the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D according to Passmark.

The RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU is described by Notebookcheck as the true successor to the RTX 4070, with performance matching the RTX 4080. In contrast, the RTX 5070 performs similarly to the RTX 4070, making it capable of running any game smoothly at the native 1920x1200 resolution of the display.

Tom's Hardware reports that the RTX 5080 mobile GPU is 15%-20% more powerful than the RTX 4080 it replaces and slightly outperforms the RTX 4090 by about 5%. Dell claims the laptop can handle a 240W TDP without increasing noise levels.

The Area-51's design highlights smooth contours with rounded edges and soft corners, moving away from the typical squared-off look. The hinges are mostly internal, making them nearly invisible, and the laptop offers ample RGB LED lighting customization. Connectivity options include three USB Type-A 3.2 15Gbps ports (one with PowerShare), two Thunderbolt / USB Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a card reader. The 16-inch model weighs 7.5 pounds, while the 18-inch model comes in at 9.6 pounds.
