Though the origins of the Game of Goose are shrouded in mystery, the earliest documented reference dates back to 1480. It's believed that Francesco de Medici presented the first known version of the game to Phillip II of Spain in 1574, marking the beginning of its storied history.
The Game of Goose Classic edition is a pure game of chance, making it perfect for family play. Its straightforward rules and engaging gameplay ensure that children can compete on an equal footing with adults, which is why it remains a favorite in households worldwide.
In gameplay, if your final dice roll exceeds the number needed to reach the last square, you must move your piece forward to the end and then count backward until you've used up the entire roll. This twist adds an extra layer of excitement to every turn.
Only one player can occupy a space at a time. If your move ends on a square already occupied by another player, they must retreat to the square from which you started your turn, adding a strategic element to the game.
