A two-player card game

This app features three card games: Four Card Golf, Six Card Golf, and Scat. Choose your preferred game in the Settings.

Four Card Golf Rules

This is a two-player card game.

Just like in real golf, the goal is to finish with the lowest possible score.

Each game consists of nine rounds. At the start of a round, each player receives four cards placed face down in a square layout. The remaining cards form a draw pile. The top card from the draw pile is placed face up to begin the discard pile.

Before play begins, each player may look once—and only once—at the two cards in their layout that are closest to them. These cards must remain secret from the opponent. Players cannot look at their face-down cards again unless they discard them during play or reveal them for scoring at the end of the round.

On your turn, you may draw a card from the draw pile. You can use this card to replace any one of the four cards in your layout, but you cannot look at the face-down card you are replacing first. Try to remember which card you swapped. Place the replaced card face up on the discard pile. Alternatively, you may draw from the draw pile and simply discard that card face-up without using it.

You may instead draw the top card from the discard pile. Since discard pile cards are face-up, you must use this card to replace one in your layout before discarding it. You cannot draw from the discard pile and then discard the same card without making a swap.

A player may also choose to knock, which ends their turn. Play then continues normally for the other player, who may draw and discard, but cannot knock. The round ends after the knock.

Scoring:

- Any pair of cards of the same rank in the same row or column scores 0 points

- Jokers are worth -2 points

- Kings are worth 0 points

- Queens and Jacks are worth 10 points

- All other cards are worth their face value (Ace=1, 2=2, etc.)

- All four cards of the same rank are worth -6 points

Six Card Golf Rules

This is a two-player card game.

As in Four Card Golf, the objective is to have the fewest points.

Each game has nine rounds. At the beginning of a round, each player receives six cards face down. The rest form a draw pile, with one card placed face up to start the discard pile.

First, each player must flip two of their cards face up. After that, players work to reduce their score by swapping cards for lower-value ones or by pairing cards of equal rank in the same column.

Players take turns drawing one card from either the draw pile or the discard pile. The drawn card can be swapped with one of the player's own cards or simply discarded. If swapped with a face-down card, the new card remains face up. If the drawn card is discarded, the turn ends. The round concludes once all of a player's cards are face-up.

Scoring:

- Any pair of cards in the same column scores 0 points

- Jokers are worth -2 points

- Kings are worth 0 points

- Queens and Jacks are worth 20 points

- All other cards are worth their face value

To swap one of your cards with a card from the discard pile, simply tap on your card. To play a card from the draw pile, tap the draw pile to reveal the card, then tap the discard pile to discard it or tap one of your cards to swap.

You can play against an AI bot or with friends on the same device.
