Game Rules

This popular Indian card game is played by four people using a standard 52-card deck. A session consists of 5 rounds, with Spades permanently acting as the trump suit. The dealer distributes 13 cards to each player. At the start, players place bids on how many hands (tricks) they expect to win. The Callbreak multiplayer experience is about winning the most tricks while also disrupting the bids of your opponents—this is the essence of "call breaking."

Deal & Bidding

Each player is dealt 13 cards, starting with the player to the dealer's left. The first dealer in a game is selected randomly; thereafter, the deal rotates clockwise after each round.

Scoring

In Callbreak, each player announces a bid between 1 and 13, starting from the dealer's left. Players must meet their bid exactly to score positively.

Play

A player who wins exactly the number of tricks they bid receives points equal to that bid. Any extra tricks are worth 0.1 points each. If a player fails to win as many tricks as they bid, they are penalized with negative points equal to their bid.

A standard game consists of five rounds or deals. At the conclusion of the fifth round, the player with the highest overall point total is declared the winner.
